ARTIST STATEMENT
There is a plethora of ‘meaning’ that penetrates this image. The first nucleus metaphor, is the raping of mother nature.
Followed by the rape of indigenous peoples, lands and cultures in the wake of colonialism,genocide, profit, greed and popular culture.
A foreboding monochromatic landscape of Earth, Sky and Ocean is violently disrupted off-centre by a thrust of colour, wrapped up and encapsulated by an ambiguous figure in a semi foetal pose.
An open wound weeping, a burst boil, an abortion, a blood sacrifice at the alter of life.
The work was created whilst artist in residence, TaiTung / Taiwan under the shadow of an impending threat of invasion by China 2019 - exhibited 2021
